The first thing visitors should understand is what our mission is NOT about.
OUR GOAL:
BoardCertifiedPlasticSurgeon.com began back in 2000, and since the beginning we have been working hard at promoting safe and thoughtful decisions about cosmetic surgery.
We did NOT create BoardCertifiedPlasticSurgeon.com to convince visitors that cosmetic surgery is the solution for their particular aesthetic concerns. The explosive trend toward self-improvement through cosmetic surgery occured without any help on our part.
The administrators of this web site are not medical professionals and do not offer endorsements, recommendations or medical advice. Our goal is to help visitors who are already considering cosmetic surgery to find, through resources, the best plastic surgeon for their needs. We believe this should be a surgeon who is board-certified in plastic surgery by the
American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and who, if listed on our Directory Lists, is willing to make a public statement about their professional record by taking our unique Directory Pledge.
DOCTORS ARE SMART
Most doctors are also savvy about business, which is why even the most well-known, respected and busiest plastic surgeons with existing web sites STILL choose to purchase a Directory Listing or Sponsor one of our City Directory pages.

The menu at right contains links to general information (NOT medical advice!), resources, State Medical and Health Boards, etc., which will help visitors educate themselves and decide for themselves not only if plastic surgery is right for them, but how to find the best board-certified plastic surgeon.
Our mission of connecting plastic surgery enthusiasts with a highly-qualified and board-certified plastic surgeon began several years ago.
We did not charge for doctors to be listed on our Courtesy Lists. We had reason to believe all were board-certified in plastic surgery by the ABPS.
We also provided a link to State Medical Boards for each of the 50 states and encouraged visitors to ask around about and check the credentials of any doctor prior to initial contact and consultation.
Not every qualified surgeon applies to be listed, and not every surgeon who applies is accepted!
Each U.S. city directory is restricted to a limited number of board-certified plastic surgeons in the United States who chose to be listed on our pages and who took the necessary steps:
WHY ISN'T MY SURGEON LISTED?
Ours is a voluntary directory not associated with any professional society.
The absence of a surgeon's name does not imply that he or she is not eligible to be listed here.
There are many reasons why a surgeon may not be listed.
Please keep the following points in mind:
-
BoardCertifiedPlasticSurgeon.com (sm) is a voluntary directory which is NOT associated with any professional society.
-
The absence of a surgeon's name does not imply that he or she is not eligible to be listed here.
-
A non-listed surgeon may have a policy of not advertising their services.
-
The removal of a previously listed plastic surgeon's name does not imply ineligibility.
-
Some surgeons may be unaware of our Directory.
-
Some surgeons are aware of the Directory but have not applied.
-
Our maximum number of doctors City Directory (currently 5) was filled.
-
It should also be noted that we retain the right to refuse and do refuse to list surgeons at our sole discretion and for any reason.
BE CAREFUL, BE BEAUFITUL (sm)
Our slogan is more than an empty phrase. It is our desire that all of our visitors will proceed with care before undergoing cosmetic surgery.
Cosmetic surgery is an elective surgery but carries the same risks as any other surgery.
Before undergoing any surgical procedure, a patient should undergo a thorough physical examination by their primary care physician to ascertain whether or not they are healthy enough to proceed with cosmetic surgery. He or she should then carefully consider and weigh the benefits and risks associated with any particular surgical procedure or treatment.
One of the BEST tools we have ever come across on the internet is a "COSMETIC SURGEON CHECKLIST" put out by the Arizona Medical Board.
The 4-page form lists just about every question you should ask - and get an answer to - before settling upon a physician/surgeon.
Here is a link:
Cosmetic Surgeon Checklist.
We hope that every plastic surgeon we list will be a physician of integrity who is willing to discuss the plastic surgery options and alternatives with their patients. Non-invasive or minimally invasive treatments may be a viable alternative for many patients. In some instances the best treatment may be no treatment at all.
The plastic surgery candidate, armed with the knowledge gained through careful research and a good consultation with a plastic surgeon of experience and integrity, can then make an informed decision about whether or not to proceed with surgery or treatment.
It is also important to "ask around" about a surgeon before making that first appointment. Then, at the consultation the surgeon should take the time to answer a patient's questions about his or her experience with the particular surgical procedure, hospital privileges, facilities, licensure, board certification, malpractice and past lawsuits, etc.
There are many directories of plastic surgeons and cosmetic surgeons on the internet. Several offer a great deal of medical information on cosmetic surgery procedures as well as Before & After Photos. Except for providing links to this type of information through our Sponsor Surgeons, we do very little of this except in a very general way.
We at www.BoardCertifiedPlasticSurgeon.com do offer professional articles and news articles: Plastic Surgery News. Our Procedures and Treatments Page offers general information on the most popular and commonly performed cosmetic surgery procedures and treatments as well as , information on the newest FDA.gov approvals.
Thank you for visiting.
ABPS:
When we say "board-certified", we mean board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada
