The liposuction procedures is meant ot remove excess body fat from areas such as the abdomen, buttocks, knees, thighs, hips, upper arm area, chin, cheeks and the neck. Liposuction is the most popular of the top ten (10) cosmetic surgery procedures performed today.
Many board certified plastic surgeons use the newer method of liposuction called the tumescent technique. With the tumescent method, a large volume of liquid is injected into the fatty tissues before removal. This type of liposuction procedure can take several hours.
Another method of lipoplasty is the super-wet method, which is similar to the tumescent technique, but takes less time. Less fluid is injected into the tissues, but there is a greater loss of blood.
Ultrasound-assisted lipoplasty, ultrasonic liposuction, or UAL, Ultrasonic liposuction (or Ultrasound Assisted Lipoplasty - UAL) is a technique whereby the fat is liquified prior to removal with a special cannula which emits high frequency sound waves.
